The university

The UWS is a university located at the west of Scotland, this university offers its studies in 4 different zones. This institution is one of the largest universities of Scotland, however, the UWS as we know it nowadays, it was born just a few years ago, in August 2007. On the other hand, the roots of it are found at the end of the 19th century. But during all these years it has had different names and has been merged several times, in other words, it has evolved along all this years.

UWS offer a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and, in addition, also offers international and exchange programs. It is constituted by the following schools: the school of business and enterprise; of education; of engineering and computing; of health, nursing and midwifery; of media, culture and society; and finally, the school of science and sport. In the aggregate, it has over 18.000 students. It is relevant to say that a part of all this, UWS also offer a wide range of services and facilities to its students.

One of the most important features that UWS want to maximize is the idea of a modern university capable of having a transformational influence on the social, economic and cultural development of the West of Scotland. Additionally, they provide highly quality education and innovative and useful research.

In fact, the corporate strategy is based in three aspects: dreaming, believing, achieving. Therefore, all the UWS system is built around these concepts. Moreover, all the graduated students will be ready to work and will be able to contribute to transform communities not only locally but globally.
Another strong point of the UWS is the fact that it has strong and stable partnerships with academic partners, industry and commerce partners, industry placements and with local communities.

Finally, I have to say that here is very important to respect the diversity and equality among all the students and staff. We all are the same, people who are here to learn or to work and doesn’t matter where we come from, the religion, the culture or the language. In fact, we should be cleverer and take advantage of the opportunity of knowing people of with different histories and points of views to widen our horizons and grow as people.
